What is User-Generated Content (UGC)?

UGC Definition and Overview User-Generated Content, commonly referred to as UGC, includes all types of material linked to a brand, crafted by individuals such as customers, fans, or independent contributors who are not formally affiliated with the company. UGC comes in so many forms - testimonials, social media posts, reviews, videos, podcasts, or essentially any form of online content that features a creator that isn't directly associated with the brand. UGC ad creative examples The Evolution and Impact of Content Creators in User-Generated Content Profile of Modern Content Creators In the world of User-Generated Content (UGC), content creators often do not possess a large following. Many are equipped with just their smartphones, capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos, to produce content. This process often starts as a hobby, a strategy to draw visitors to their personal websites, or as a way to express their passion for their favorite brands. What sets these creators apart is their authenticity and enthusiasm for the products or services they showcase. They excel in crafting content that is both genuine and captivating, making it highly relatable and engaging for their audience. Advancements in Technology Enhancing UGC A significant factor in the surge of UGC has been the widespread accessibility of technology, almost every phone has 4k camera built-in. And popular apps like "cap-cut" or editors built into apps like TikTok make editing videos a breeze. Previously the barrier-to-entry was thousands of dollars in recording equipment and advanced software. This technological explosion has democratized content creation, allowing virtually anyone to produce professional-grade visual content. This accessibility has been a game-changer, enabling more individuals to participate in content creation and contribute to the UGC ecosystem. The Economic Advantage of UGC Cost-Effectiveness and Performance Brands are increasingly turning to UGC is the cost-effectiveness of video content production. It used to cost thousands of dollars for a single production-ready advertisement to be created. Now you can get production-quality videos ready to posted to your social media or promoted through advertisers for as low as $99 a video. The ability to produce diverse content at a lower cost means brands can cover more ground in their marketing efforts. They can experiment with different types of content, target various segments of their audience more effectively, and adapt quickly to changing market trends or consumer behaviors.

Creators: How to Get Paid as a Creator

To receive your earnings as a creator: - Ensure you have connected your stripe account. - Navigate to the "Payouts" page in your account dashboard. - Review your available balance. - Request a payout by clicking the "Request Payout" button. - Follow the prompts to complete your payout request. Please note that payout processing times may vary depending on your chosen payment method and location. Payments are usually delivered within 2-5 business days. Note: Starting September 29, 2025, automatic payouts in USD will be initiated on the same day they’re expected to arrive for all your connected accounts in the United States. For example, if a payout is scheduled to land on a Wednesday, the payout will be created on that same day and the funds should be available before the end of the day - meaning there will be no significant wait time after request is processed. Payout Frequently Asked Questions How long until I get paid? Marketplace orders are instantly eligible for payout once marked as complete. For campaign payouts, they become available for request 14 days after the brand marks the campaign as completed. Please note, this is time-sensitive on the 14th day, meaning the option to request won’t appear exactly at 12:00 am but will become available during the day. After requesting, Vidovo processes the payout within 7 business days, and funds will reach your account within 2-5 business days after processing. Why does my payout say "Not Yet Eligible" If the payment says "not yet eligible", it means the payment is not yet available for the job. To ensure a fair delivery, payouts are available 14 days after a campaign has been completed to allow time to resolve any issues. I completed a campaign, but I still don't see a payment option If you have delivered everything on-time to the brand, this usually means the campaign has not been marked as completed. The first step is to communicate with the brand as to why the campaign has not been marked as completed. If you have completed the task and the brand still does not mark it as complete, please contact Vidovo customer support and we will resolve the issue. How do I change my payout information? If you need to update your payout information (via Stripe), follow these steps: 1. In your dashboard, click the settings icon at the top right. 2. Select Settings, which will redirect you to the business settings page. 3. Under the Business section on the left side, you’ll find options labeled External Payout and Scheduling (or sometimes Bank Account and Currencies). 4. Here, you can edit and save new payout details. Please note: Since Vidovo uses Stripe to manage payments, any changes will go through Stripe’s secure system. When you remove an account and add a new one, there is a 24-hour verification period for Stripe to securely remove the old information and verify the new account. Why did I receive less than the proposal amount? We take a 10% fee from creator earnings. We charge this fee on all orders to cover costs like payment processing, customer support, and marketing. These fees help us improve the platform, attract more clients, and keep things running smoothly—so creators get more opportunities long-term. It’s been longer than 7 days since I requested a payout and I still haven’t received it. What should I do? If it takes longer than 7 days, please open a support ticket or contact us via email or Discord. This usually means your Stripe account isn’t connected or you’re missing required information. - Make sure your Stripe account is connected before requesting a payout. - If your Stripe account isn’t connected, your request gets skipped over and will not process. You must open a support ticket to resolve it. - Even if you connect Stripe after making a payout request, you’ll still need to contact support to ensure the payout is processed. Payouts after request should never take longer than 7 days if everything is set up correctly.

Communicating with Creators

Communication is one of the most important parts of running a campaign — and one of Vidovo’s most underrated value props. Unlike many platforms, Vidovo gives you the ability to message creators before any transaction takes place. That means you can confirm details, ask questions, and make sure a creator is the right fit with zero risk. Why It Matters - No-Risk Conversations: Talk to creators before approving them, so you can align on style, deliverables, and expectations upfront. - Build Relationships: Brands and creators who start with genuine communication often turn one campaign into ongoing partnerships. - Plan Ahead: Use messaging to confirm campaign details in advance — such as timelines or creative angles — so creators know exactly what you’re expecting and there are no surprises. Best Practices - Message Before Approving: We highly recommend sending a quick note to creators before you commit. It’s not required, but it helps you avoid misalignment. - Be Direct: Specific feedback (e.g., “trim the intro to 5 seconds”) works far better than general comments (“this doesn’t work”). - Stay in the Inbox: Keep communication inside Vidovo. This keeps everything documented, avoids confusion, and makes it easier to loop in teammates. - Develop Rapport: Don’t be afraid to keep it conversational. We’ve seen that when brands and creators click, the content is more authentic — and performance reflects it. Common Uses - Confirming a creator’s style or audience fit before approval. - Clarifying product details or USPs to highlight. - Aligning on deadlines, usage rights, or formats. - Giving feedback on drafts or requesting changes. - Sharing inspiration (references, links, or past campaigns). Tip: Use short, bullet-style notes when giving feedback.

How to Choose the Right Creator

Picking the right creator is one of the most important steps in running a campaign. The creator you select doesn’t just produce content — they represent your brand’s voice and help shape how your audience connects with your product. What to Look for in Portfolios When reviewing a creator’s Vidovo profile, focus on the essentials: - Video Examples: Review at least 3–5 examples. This is the clearest way to understand their style, editing quality, and how naturally they present products. - Profile Description: A complete, SEO-friendly description shows the creator takes their work seriously and makes it easier for you to judge fit. - Photos: High-quality profile and sample photos should feel consistent and aligned with your brand’s aesthetic. - Past Reviews: Even though reviews on Vidovo are still new, they’re a useful signal for reliability. - Messaging: Don’t hesitate to send a quick message. Responsiveness is a great early indicator of professionalism. Audience & Industry Fit - Demographics: The creator should look and feel like your target audience. For example, if your ads are aimed at 40+ professionals, a Gen Z lifestyle creator will feel off. - Industry Relevance: Study what content performs well in your space and select creators who can deliver in that style. - Platform Fit: Some creators excel on TikTok, others on Instagram. Match creators to the platforms where your campaigns will run. Pro Tips - Message Before Approving: One of Vidovo’s unique advantages is the ability to connect with creators before committing. We highly recommend it to confirm fit and set expectations. - Check Completeness: A filled-out description, polished examples, and strong visuals usually signal a creator who treats their work like a business. - Think Long-Term: The best campaigns often come from ongoing relationships. Choose creators you’d want to work with more than once. Common Mistakes to Avoid - Ignoring demographics and selecting creators who don’t reflect your target customer. - Choosing based only on aesthetics without reviewing multiple video examples. - Overlooking incomplete profiles — thin portfolios are red flags. - Focusing only on trends rather than relevance to your brand and audience. Tip: The strongest fits usually feel obvious — their portfolio looks polished, their style matches your brand, and their demographic alignment makes sense for your customer.
