How to Write a Great Campaign Brief

General guidelines + Vidovo’s recommended approach A strong campaign brief is the foundation for getting authentic, high-quality content from creators. It sets expectations clearly while giving creators the freedom to make content that feels real and relatable. Vidovo’s Recommended Two-Step Approach Step 1: Start With Creative Freedom Begin with a light brief that outlines the basic do’s and don’ts but leaves room for flexibility. Let creators test the product and craft their own approach. Authenticity shines when creators have the freedom to showcase how they genuinely use and love the product. Step 2: Refine With Structure After testing initial content and seeing what performs, refine your direction with heavier briefs or light scripting. This phase doubles down on what’s working while still maintaining a natural, organic feel. Think of it as fine-tuning rather than controlling. Note: This is just a recommended starting point. Always apply what’s already working for you — we mainly suggest this approach if you’re new to creating briefs! General Content Requirements When setting up your campaign, we recommend requiring a few universal standards so creators deliver consistent, usable content. - Deliverables: Decide upfront whether you want a fully edited video or the raw footage. Requesting both is allowed, but keep in mind it usually increases creator cost. - Video Quality: Minimum 1080p resolution, steady framing, and clear focus. Natural light is preferred over harsh artificial lighting. - Audio: Speech should be crisp and free of background noise. If music is added, it must be cleared for commercial use and kept lower than the voice. - Aspect Ratios: Common formats are 9:16 and 4:5, but adjust to whichever platforms you prioritize. - Captions: Strongly encouraged. If used, keep them simple and clean — either native Instagram/TikTok fonts or an uncluttered captions app style. - Length: 15–60 seconds tends to work best. Avoid exceeding 60 seconds unless longer content is part of your strategy. - Messaging: Keep delivery conversational and authentic, not scripted. Encourage creators to highlight no more than 1–2 unique selling points naturally. - Closing CTA: Require a clear, brand-appropriate call-to-action at the end of each video. To minimize back-and-forth, make your absolute must-haves explicit in the brief from the start. Example Campaign Brief Structure 1. **Overview ** - Short intro to the brand/product. - What the campaign is trying to achieve. 2. **Content ** - Choose from one of the approved content concepts. - Outline the type of deliverable (e.g., 15s TikTok, 30s Reel). 3. USPs (Selling Points) - Include 1–2 key product or brand benefits. - Phrase them naturally in your own words. 4. Do’s & Don’ts - ✅ Show product in natural lighting. - ✅ Keep content within 30–60 seconds. - ❌ Don’t mention competitor brands. - ❌ Don’t use copyrighted music. 👉 A campaign brief should inspire creators, not restrict them. Give them room to be authentic, then use Vidovo’s two-step process to refine based on what works best.

Reviewing & Approving Content

Once creators upload content, you’ll have the chance to review, approve, or request edits directly in Vidovo. How to Review Content 1. Go to the Assets section of your campaign. 2. Click the Review button next to the asset. 3. From here, you’ll have two main options: - Request Edits: Leave a clear comment describing exactly what should be revised. - Approve Content: Approve the asset once you’re satisfied. - (Optional) Download Before Approving: You can download content prior to approval if needed, but we recommend adding your team members directly into Vidovo for seamless collaboration. After Approval - Once content is approved, you can download it directly. - When all assets for the campaign are complete and approved, click Mark as Complete in the top right corner to officially close out the campaign. Best Practices - Be Clear: If requesting edits, be specific about what needs to change to avoid multiple rounds of revision. - Collaborate Inside Vidovo: Invite teammates into your account instead of downloading drafts for offline review — this keeps all feedback centralized. - Close Out Campaigns: Marking a campaign complete keeps your dashboard organized and signals all deliverables are finalized. Tip: Approve only when you’re fully satisfied. Once approved, the content is ready for download and use.

Requesting Revisions from Creators

Revisions are a natural part of the creative process. Vidovo makes it simple for brands to review content and request edits when needed. How Revisions Work - Unlimited Revisions: There’s no hard cap — revisions are worked out directly between the brand and the creator. - When It’s on the Creator: If the creator didn’t follow the brief or made a clear mistake, revisions should be done at no cost. - When It’s on the Brand: If you’re adding new requirements, changing direction after the brief was set, or requesting additions beyond what was agreed, the creator may ask for additional payment. How to Request Revisions 1. Go to the Assets section of your campaign once a creator uploads content. 2. Click the Review button next to the asset. 3. From here, you can either Approve or **Request Edits. ** 4. If requesting edits, select Request Edits and leave a clear, specific comment explaining what should be revised. Best Practices - Be Clear and Specific: Instead of “please fix this,” say “trim the intro to under 5 seconds” or “adjust lighting to be brighter.” - Stay Within the Brief: If you’re asking for something that wasn’t in the original brief, clarify that it’s an addition and discuss costs upfront. - Keep Communication Inside Vidovo: Always leave comments through the platform so both sides have a clear record. Tip: The smoother and more specific your feedback, the faster revisions get turned around — and the better the end result.

How to Choose the Right Creator

Picking the right creator is one of the most important steps in running a campaign. The creator you select doesn’t just produce content — they represent your brand’s voice and help shape how your audience connects with your product. What to Look for in Portfolios When reviewing a creator’s Vidovo profile, focus on the essentials: - Video Examples: Review at least 3–5 examples. This is the clearest way to understand their style, editing quality, and how naturally they present products. - Profile Description: A complete, SEO-friendly description shows the creator takes their work seriously and makes it easier for you to judge fit. - Photos: High-quality profile and sample photos should feel consistent and aligned with your brand’s aesthetic. - Past Reviews: Even though reviews on Vidovo are still new, they’re a useful signal for reliability. - Messaging: Don’t hesitate to send a quick message. Responsiveness is a great early indicator of professionalism. Audience & Industry Fit - Demographics: The creator should look and feel like your target audience. For example, if your ads are aimed at 40+ professionals, a Gen Z lifestyle creator will feel off. - Industry Relevance: Study what content performs well in your space and select creators who can deliver in that style. - Platform Fit: Some creators excel on TikTok, others on Instagram. Match creators to the platforms where your campaigns will run. Pro Tips - Message Before Approving: One of Vidovo’s unique advantages is the ability to connect with creators before committing. We highly recommend it to confirm fit and set expectations. - Check Completeness: A filled-out description, polished examples, and strong visuals usually signal a creator who treats their work like a business. - Think Long-Term: The best campaigns often come from ongoing relationships. Choose creators you’d want to work with more than once. Common Mistakes to Avoid - Ignoring demographics and selecting creators who don’t reflect your target customer. - Choosing based only on aesthetics without reviewing multiple video examples. - Overlooking incomplete profiles — thin portfolios are red flags. - Focusing only on trends rather than relevance to your brand and audience. Tip: The strongest fits usually feel obvious — their portfolio looks polished, their style matches your brand, and their demographic alignment makes sense for your customer.

How to Choose the Right Campaign Type

UGC vs. Influencer Campaigns on Vidovo When creating a campaign on Vidovo, you’ll need to decide whether to launch a UGC Campaign or an Influencer Campaign. Both options help you work with creators, but they serve different goals. UGC Campaigns UGC campaigns are designed to help you quickly produce content assets that you can use across ads, social, and owned media. - ✅ Content is delivered to your brand (you own and use it wherever you want). - ✅ Best for paid ads, product pages (Website, Amazon, Walmart), and organic posts. - ✅ Focused on quality content at scale rather than reach on a creator’s personal channel. - ⚡ Great for testing multiple hooks, formats, and variations. Example: Launching a new skincare line? Run a UGC campaign to generate 20 TikTok/Reels variations that your team can test in ads. Influencer Campaigns Influencer campaigns are for when you want creators to publish directly on their own channels, reaching their built-in audience. - ✅ Content is posted on the influencer’s account, not just delivered to you. - ✅ Best for brand awareness, launches, and community building. - ✅ Ideal when authenticity and audience trust are as important as the content itself. - ⚡ Great for seeding products and running collaborations that drive buzz. Example: Releasing a limited edition drop? Run an influencer campaign to get creators sharing unboxings with their followers. Quick Comparison | Feature | UGC Campaign | Influencer Campaign | | --- | --- | --- | | Content Delivery | Sent to your brand | Posted on influencer’s channels | | Best For | Ads, PDPs, content libraries | Awareness, community, launches | | Scale | High volume, variations | Lower volume, higher reach per post | | Ownership | Brand owns full usage rights | Rights negotiated, tied to influencer content | Which Campaign Should You Choose? - Choose UGC if your goal is to build a content library, test ad creative, or scale retail assets. - Choose Influencer if your goal is to tap into creator audiences for awareness, engagement, or credibility. Pro Tip: Many brands run both — UGC campaigns for scalable assets and Influencer campaigns for reach. Ending a Campaign

Sometimes you’ll want to wrap up a campaign once it’s finished or pause it temporarily if you’re not ready for new proposals. Vidovo makes this process simple. How to End a Campaign 1. Go to your Campaigns tab. 2. Select the campaign you want to close and click Edit. 3. In the top right corner, click the big red End Campaign button. 4. You’ll see a confirmation screen asking if you’re sure. Click End Campaign to finalize. Once confirmed, your campaign will officially close. Important Notes - Active Proposals: You can still move forward with creators who already submitted proposals before the campaign was ended. - No New Proposals: Once a campaign is ended, new creators will no longer be able to apply. - Content Access: You’ll still have access to all content and communication tied to that campaign even after it’s closed.

Communicating with Creators

Communication is one of the most important parts of running a campaign — and one of Vidovo’s most underrated value props. Unlike many platforms, Vidovo gives you the ability to message creators before any transaction takes place. That means you can confirm details, ask questions, and make sure a creator is the right fit with zero risk. Why It Matters - No-Risk Conversations: Talk to creators before approving them, so you can align on style, deliverables, and expectations upfront. - Build Relationships: Brands and creators who start with genuine communication often turn one campaign into ongoing partnerships. - Plan Ahead: Use messaging to confirm campaign details in advance — such as timelines or creative angles — so creators know exactly what you’re expecting and there are no surprises. Best Practices - Message Before Approving: We highly recommend sending a quick note to creators before you commit. It’s not required, but it helps you avoid misalignment. - Be Direct: Specific feedback (e.g., “trim the intro to 5 seconds”) works far better than general comments (“this doesn’t work”). - Stay in the Inbox: Keep communication inside Vidovo. This keeps everything documented, avoids confusion, and makes it easier to loop in teammates. - Develop Rapport: Don’t be afraid to keep it conversational. We’ve seen that when brands and creators click, the content is more authentic — and performance reflects it. Common Uses - Confirming a creator’s style or audience fit before approval. - Clarifying product details or USPs to highlight. - Aligning on deadlines, usage rights, or formats. - Giving feedback on drafts or requesting changes. - Sharing inspiration (references, links, or past campaigns). Tip: Use short, bullet-style notes when giving feedback.

How Reimbursement Works & How You’re Charged

Running reimbursement campaigns on Vidovo can be incredibly effective for brands that rely on product-in-hand creator content. It’s important to understand exactly how the process works, how charges are handled, and the responsibilities involved. This guide breaks down everything brands need to know, including how to set up a reimbursement campaign step-by-step, what happens when a proposal is accepted, platform safeguards, and best practices to ensure smooth collaboration with creators. Whether you're new to Vidovo or refining your campaign strategy, this walkthrough will help you use reimbursement features confidently and responsibly. 1. Overview of Reimbursement on Vidovo - What are reimbursement campaigns? How do they differ from a paid campaign? - Reimbursement campaigns are campaigns where the creator purchases a product upfront, and the brand reimburses them for that cost. This is different from paid, where a creator gets paid an agreed-upon amount for their content. - When does a reimbursement campaign make sense for brands? - Reimbursement really makes sense for brands when you're running product-based collaborations. For example, when you need creators to physically purchase your item to show it in their content. It’s a great fit for things like retail-style campaigns (when the creator goes into a brick-and-mortar store to film and purchase a product, Amazon, TikTok Shop, or products that creators need in-hand to create. 2. How to Create a Reimbursement Campaign on Vidovo When you’re creating a new campaign, you’ll eventually reach the Payment / Compensation Method section. Once you get to that section, here’s what to do: 1. Choose “Money” instead of “Gifted.” 1. This opens a box for: - A payment (flat fee) price range - A dedicated “Offer Reimbursement” option - this is the option we will be working with! 2. Under the “Price Range” section, you’ll see an “Offer Reimbursement” section. 1. Check the box to activate the reimbursement. 2. Once you check it, a new field appears where you can enter the reimbursement amount. 1. Add the reimbursement amount for your product(s). - Make sure to factor in taxes, shipping, fees, and any other costs the creator will need to cover up front. 2. Below that, you’ll see an optional text box for Reimbursement Details. This is a great place to explain exactly what expenses are covered, like: - Product details - Product cost - Shipping - Any required accessories 3. While this section is technically optional, we strongly recommend filling it out with clear, detailed information so creators understand what’s expected before they apply. 1. Then continue with the rest of your campaign setup as normal. 2. When you are finished setting up your campaign and adding in the details, before you click “Publish” and go live, we recommend double-checking: - The reimbursement amount - The reimbursement details/description 3. Once everything looks correct, go ahead and publish your campaign! 3. How Brand Charging Works - Instant Charge at Proposal Acceptance - When a brand accepts a creator’s proposal on a reimbursement campaign, the full reimbursement amount is charged to that brand instantly. - No Delays, No Escrow - There’s no delay, no waiting period, and no escrow. The moment you hit “accept,” your card is charged. - Creator Deposit Timing - At the same time, the creator’s reimbursement gets instantly deposited into their connected Stripe account. So they receive those funds immediately and can move forward with purchasing the product to create content for the campaign. - No Platform Fee - Vidovo does not take a platform fee on reimbursement amounts. Whatever reimbursement you agreed to pay the creator, 100% of that goes directly to them. 4. Brand Risk & Liability - 100% Brand Risk - When you choose to use a reimbursement campaign, the brand takes on 100% of the risk. Reimbursements are non-refundable. So if a creator fails to deliver, changes their mind, or doesn’t end up completing the work, the brand still absorbs that cost. - No Chargebacks via Vidovo - Vidovo does not process chargebacks on reimbursements, and we don’t mediate reimbursement disputes between brands and creators. Our Terms of Service explicitly note that all reimbursement liability falls on the brand. 5. Platform Safeguards & Updates - Creators Must Have Stripe - Only creators with a connected Stripe account are allowed to apply to reimbursement campaigns. This ensures they can actually receive the reimbursement instantly. - Pop-Up Warning for Creators - There’s a new pop-up warning that appears before creators apply. It explains the requirements and makes sure they fully understand the expectations of reimbursement campaigns. 6. Ethical Use & Considerations - Follow Standard Guidelines - Brands must still follow standard guidelines, such as (but not limited to): communicating clearly, setting expectations, and using reimbursement campaigns responsibly. - Reviews Not Guaranteed - Remember: a reimbursement does NOT guarantee a review, specific performance, or content outcome. It simply covers the cost of the product. - Encouraged to Stay Ethical - Vidovo encourages ethical creator-brand collaboration, but we don’t oversee communication unless there’s a direct platform issue. So it’s important to stay transparent and respectful throughout the process. 7. Best Practices for Brands - Defined Deliverables - Clearly define your deliverables inside your campaign, your proposal messaging, and your content briefs. - Be Intentional - Use reimbursement campaigns intentionally, not as a cost-saving tactic, but when it genuinely fits the collaboration. - Reimbursement ≠ Guarantee - Remember that reimbursement is not a guarantee of content results or performance. It’s simply a payment method. That’s everything you need to know about how reimbursement campaigns work on Vidovo on the brand’s side!
